SILENCE THE ULTIMATE TEACHING

Crisp cold winter crept in and so is the silence. The tree in the garden has shred its leaves like the Janani shreds his false I. The nest on the tree which hosted the robin and its little one is empty now like the mind of Self realized soul.

Bhagawan's 138th Jayanthi is on the 12th of this month and I thought its apt for me to write this. I came across Aradhana day edition of The Mountain Path issue 1993. This issue contains the details and conversations of those devotees who were fortunate enough to move with Bhagawan and who sat at his feet and realised the truth. Papaji, Robert Adams , Paul Brunton, Laxmana Swamy etc.

One topic which caught my mind and I have pondered on for last couple of days is the section on Robert Adams. Robert Adams was born in New York city in 1928. He had divine visions from childhood and found Ramana at the age of seven and travelled to India and was with Bahgawan during his last 3 years of mortal life. Robert put Bhagawan's teachings in one of his satsangs as follows

The highest teaching in the world is silence. There is nothing higher than this.

A devotee who sits with a sage purifies his mind. No words need to be exchanged and minds automatically gets purified. Silence is the ultimate reality and everything exists in this world through silence.

True silence really means going deep within yourself to that place where nothing is happening, where you transcend time and space. You go into a brand new dimension of nothingness. That's where all the power is. That's your real home . That's where you really belong, in deep Silence where there is no good and bad , no one trying to achieve anything. Just being , pure being.

The only freedom you will ever have is when you go deep into the Silence and you transcend.

It is when you begin to feel in your heart that you are boundless space, that something begins to happen. AS you feel yourself boundless space , all your stuff begins to drop away. Yet you do not affirm to yourself that you are boundless space. You merely observe, you watch, you become the witness. you look out at the world and you see the trees, the mountains , the planets , are hanging in the space. And you begin to consider that you r body , what appears to be your body , is like the trees and the moon and te sun. It seems to be a thing of itself, and it is also hanging in boundless space.

Because you are able to observe this and see this and feel this, the realization will come to you that you must be this boundless space, which your body and mind and the rest of the things of this world are attached to. As you begin to consider this, the mind becomes quieter and quieter and quieter , until the day comes when it fall away completely. Then you become boundless space.
